The main character is a 25-year-old man called Saitama. (8 After ) saving a young boy from a monster whilst out job hunting, he continues to act (9 as ) a part time hero three years on. Because (10 of ) his strict training regime, he has lost all his hair, but gained a super power (11 from ) another dimension. Because he is able to defeat any monster, he doesn’t feel challenged and yearns to fight against a more formidable opponent.

One day, Saitama saves a young man who has almost lost a battle (12 against ) a monster. This young cyborg Genos becomes Saitama’s apprentice. Hearing (13 about ) the existence of the Super Hero Association (14 from ) Genos, the two take the Entrance Exam and pass. Saitama is ranked 388th and put (15 into ) the C division – the lowest there is – but continues working (16 as ) a professional hero.

Saitama takes things easy and doesn’t report back (17 to ) the Association about the monsters he defeats. However, his ranking goes up because of testimony (18 from ) people who witness his victories against the monsters. One day, the Super Hero Association summons its top-class heroes. This is (19 in ) response to a fortune teller’s last words; which predicted a crisis (20 on ) earth. Yusuke Murata who is (23 in ) charge of the illustrations, said in an interview that, “I was going to draw Saitama (24 as ) a handsome man, but I realized that his charm is not (25 in ) his appearance, so I made use (26 of ) the original illustrations by ONE (the creator of the series).” Even when Saitama saves a person (27 from ) a monster, they complain, rather than thank him. The sheer power of the hero’s humanity (28 in ) the face of ingratitude struck a chord with readers.
